This is a great feature, and if used, will really help us keep our site updated. Replacing a document, instead of deleting the old one and uploading a new one, will ensure that only one version of the file lives on the website and any links to that file will still work.
- Locate the file that needs to be updated within Cascade.
- Looking to replace an image file but can't find it?
- Click "Edit" on the page where the image is located
- Select the image in the content editor and click "Insert/Edit Image" in the toolbar
- Right click file in "Image source" and click "View"
- Cascade will open that file
- Need help finding a document file?
- Take a look at the URL for the file. After the main URL to your site, a slash "/" indicates a file within a folder. Example: ...coloradomesa.edu/test/documents/file.pdf is a PDF file within a "documents" folder in the Test site.
- Looking to replace an image file but can't find it?
- Now that you've opened the file in Cascade, click the Edit button
in the top right of the screen
- Drag the new file into the box or click the 'choose' link to select one from your computer.
Note: It is OK if the file name of this new file does not match the one you are replacing. When you save it the URL will match what it previously was. - Click 'Save & Preview'.
- Click 'Submit'.
- Click 'Publish'.
That's it! You don't need to edit any pages or update any links where this file is located. This simple process will make all of the updates that need to be made without breaking anything on the site.
