The Dashboard is the first thing you see when you log in to Cascade and is made up of a series of blocks called widgets. Your dashboard can be customized according to your preferences, the outline below covers the default dashboard settings. Widgets can be rearranged by clicking on the widget's title and dragging it to a new location. You can also remove a widget from your dashboard by clicking the X that appears in the upper right when you hover over a widget.
Note: Some widgets say "This widget must be configured with a Site before it can display content. Use the settings icon in the upper right-hand corner of this widget to configure it". Hover over the widget and click the settings icon () to select a site. You can change the site to view information for a different section but you are not able to view multiple sites at a time.
Clicking on the Cascade logo,, in the upper right will return you to the dashboard from anywhere in Cascade.
-
Welcome widget: Includes the user's name, current date. The number in the pink circle is the number of unread notifications you have. You also have the option to:
- Add Widget - This will show you a list of all available widgets. Some of these are not configured, for example, the Analytics widgets are not configured for our account.
- Reset Dashboard - This button will return your dashboard to its original state, as shown above.
- My Sites: This will show you the sites you have access to, if you have access to many sites it may only show the sites you have most recently accessed.
- My Upcoming Tasks: This widget will show any tasks you have created. You can also add a new task.
- New Content: This widget is included in the default dashboard but I advise removing this widget since it is preferable to add content directly on a site.
-
My Content: Through this widget you can access:
- Recent - the most recent files you have visited or edited in Cascade.
- Owned Content - the content you are owner of. We do not use the ownership feature, by default, you own any content that you originally created.
- Drafts - Any page that you have edited in Cascade but not submitted the changes will show as a draft.
- Workflows - If you are a part of an active workflow it will display here, we do not use workflows for the majority of our sites.
- Locks - You have the option of locking a page which will keep another user from editing it. If you do lock a page, please remember to unlock it when you are finished so that it can be edited by others in your department.
-
Stale Content: This widget will show you the number of pages within a site that fits the criteria for being stale. To configure these items, click the pencil icon
and select your site and duration. Stale content is anything that has not been modified during the time frame you set.
- Notifications: Notifications are messages that are created when certain actions are completed in Cascade, primarily publishing and unpublishing. The only time you should need to access your notifications is when you think a page didn't publish, the notification will tell you if there were any errors during the publishing process.
- Content to Review: This widget will show you any content that is set to be reviewed within a set time frame. You will need to configure the settings to select your site and set the duration.
- Link Checker: Cascade has a built-in link checker that will check the links on your site. This feature updates on a weekly basis. There is also a link checker that runs when you submit your changes. Additionally, we have a weekly quality assurance tool, Siteimprove, that checks our entire site for broken links and misspellings and then sends out an email report.
